Sometimes we try too hard. Unfortunately, the majority of the time our striving doesn’t accomplish anything. Our feeble attempts to get closer to God, transform our character, and expand our ministry, business or organization falls flat. Many times the cure to this dilemma is to acknowledge, honor, accept and cooperate with what the Holy Spirit is already doing. He is at work and we must observe what He’s doing and bless it. This is the spirit in which Hosea wrote this passage and the same spirit I’m attempting to capture through this prayer. Why don’t you pray this prayer and agree with what the Holy Spirit is already doing in your life?
Prayer
You are my keeper. You have married me. You faithfully uphold Your covenant with me. You relate to me in Your covenant with righteousness and justice. Covering me in relational love-covenant mercy and due to Your faithfulness; I cannot help but to acknowledge You. I gladly bear Your name and as I respond to Your faithfulness You respond in even greater ways! You change the atmosphere over my life and around my life, and everything in the Earth and in my dominion comes alive with Your blessing. This blessing will be obvious in a harvest of disciples, joy in the Holy Spirit, and Your power in my life. Everyone will know this process started with You. They will know You planted this in my heart. You are turning everything right side up in my life. Everything is backwards from the way it started. You have changed my name and my whole identity. I own up to Your process and give You glory. I commit to acknowledge that’s the kind God you are! Hallelujah!!!
Hosea 2:19-23
I will betroth you to me forever;I will betroth you in righteousness and justice,in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord. “In that day I will respond,” declares the Lord—“I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth; and the earth will respond to the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, and they will respond to Jezreel. I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
