It goes without saying that we need a spiritual awakening within our nation. We need more than a revival among the saints, we need an invasion of the Holy Spirit among the lost. Only the Holy Spirit effectively convicts sinners of sin and draws them to salvation. For the fate of our nation to be changed, this awakening must take place among the masses not just the few. Awakening can only happen by prayer and intercession. As we’re praying through the book of Habakkuk, we find a passage that serves as a great outline in praying for the lost. Will you join me in prayer as we seek God for a mighty awakening to sweep the land?
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for the day You showed up in wrath. You judged sin at the cross. You destroyed the power of the Devil. With the Devil’s own spear and with His own plan You destroyed his kingdom. You placed every plague and pestilence on Jesus. You poured Your wrath on him. When You arrived You had judgement in one hand and deliverance in the other. You delivered Your people and Your Messiah at the same time. You rescued him from the grave and You justified us while doing it (Romans 4:25). You are amazing and I love You with all my heart! Lord, I somberly understand that You will judge the peoples of the Earth and You will judge the people who steal Your land. In light of this send awakening among the unbelieving people’s. Draw them to the cross. Bring them into Your fold. Lord, remember mercy!
Habakkuk 3:2 & 5-16
Lord, … in wrath remember mercy…Plague went before him; pestilence followed his steps. He stood, and shook the earth; he looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains crumbled and the age-old hills collapsed—but he marches on forever. I saw the tents of Cushan in distress, the dwellings of Midian in anguish. Were you angry with the rivers, Lord? Was your wrath against the streams? Did you rage against the sea when you rode your horses and your chariots to victory You uncovered your bow, you called for many arrows. You split the earth with rivers; the mountains saw you and writhed. Torrents of water swept by; the deep roared and lifted its waves on high. Sun and moon stood still in the heavens at the glint of your flying arrows, at the lightning of your flashing spear. In wrath you strode through the earth and in anger you threshed the nations. You came out to deliver your people, to save your anointed one. You crushed the leader of the land of wickedness, you stripped him from head to foot. With his own spear you pierced his head when his warriors stormed out to scatter us, gloating as though about to devour the wretched who were in hiding. You trampled the sea with your horses, churning the great waters. I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.
