There’s something powerful about praying scripture back to God—especially when it comes from a heart that longs for both maturity and enduring passion. Psalm 116 reminds us of God’s faithfulness through every season of life, and it calls us to respond with wholehearted devotion. This prayer is an invitation to grow deeper in love with Jesus, to remain steadfast, and to serve Him with zeal all the days of our lives.

If this prayer resonates with your heart, I encourage you to share this page with others. Let’s stir up a generation that doesn’t grow cold, but matures in faith while keeping their fire for God burning bright. May we be living examples of His faithfulness, full of gratitude and committed love.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, shape me into a mature lover of You. I desire to be part of the rare breed that grows to full maturity in Christ and keeps my fiery passion for You! I have a long history with You! You’ve heard my cry. You’ve proven Yourself trustworthy time and time again. You’ve done this in many different ways and in many different circumstances. This is why I love You, and because of this, I will continue to call on You. I will fulfill my commitment I made at salvation. I will live out that commitment until my last breath. My service to You will be with precision, compassion and zeal! I’ll worship with gratitude. I’ll publicly keep my commitment to You. I’ll be an example of love, maturity and longevity. Make me a living example of Your faithfulness. I pray this in the name of the perfect faithful One, amen.

Psalms 116:1-19

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Lord, save me!” The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

I trusted in the Lord when I said, “I am greatly afflicted”; in my alarm I said, “Everyone is a liar.” What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, Lord; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains. I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the Lord— in your midst, Jerusalem.

Praise the Lord.
