A Prayer for Wisdom in Times of an Open Heaven

Too many people only seek God in the bad times. The only time they’re interested in the Father is when there is a crisis occurring in their life. Our Father isn’t only to be called upon in times of crisis; He’s to be enjoyed throughout the good times as well. Lets ask our Heavenly Father to give us the wisdom to seek him between the crises of life, and maybe by His grace and the wisdom that he gives we will be able to avoid some of these troubles.

Prayer

O Father, give me the wisdom to seek You in the good times. Give me the good judgment to request forgiveness and freedom before my sins have mastered me. Help me to steward this season of an open heaven and to revel in the fact my sins are forgiven. I’ve carried the burden of sin before and it has crushed me. I never want to make that mistake again. In this season of grace teach me the path to the secret place. When the season of difficulty comes I will know the way in the dark. Make me teachable. Internally and externally integrate Your ways within my life. May I be completely trained in the ways of the kingdom. I don’t want to be a numbskull that needs to be told everything. I long to know You so well that I obey before You even ask. I want to live in a state where Your nature is my nature. This will keep me out of trouble and give me a life worth living. Thank You for the opportunity You’ve given me in the person of Jesus Christ. It’s because of Him I have this opportunity and in his name I pray, amen.

Psalms 32:1-11

Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!
