Jesus has given us access to the Father. This gives us the opportunity to seek His face, which is held in contrast to seeking his hands. Seeking His hands is looking for him to do something for us.  However, seeking His face is seeking to know his thoughts, emotions, desires, countenance and wishes. It is longing to know the essence of his being. Join with me in using Psalms 42 in seeking His face. If this prayer helps you seek him, then please share it with your friends and fellow believers. 

Prayer

Oh Lord, I long for You. There is nothing I want more than you. Your presence is what I desire. Tears pour from my eyes because of my desire for You. People mock me for seeking you. They claim I’m wasting my time. Show up and prove them wrong. I will not be depressed because of Your delay. Because I trust You, I’m persistent in seeking You. You’re my deepest desire and I will follow my desire. My delays are coming to an end and I will be rewarded with Your presence and power. I declare I will be vindicated for seeking Your face and everyone will certainly say, “His pursuit paid off.” Thank You for this in Jesus name, amen.

Psalms 42: 1-11

As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying, “Where is this God of yours?” My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration! Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and 6 my God!

Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you—even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar. I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. “O God my rock,” I cry, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies?” Their taunts break my bones. They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?” Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
