Jesus is the builder of the church. This prayer asks Him to send true disciples into our churches, and accepts the reality that some will dropout. True disciples have staying power. Let’s pray this prayer and partner with Jesus in building His church.

Prayer 

Jesus, You’re the God who prunes the branches of the tree (John 15:2), but You’re also the One who builds Your church (Matthew 16:18).  Draw people into our communities of faith that truly belong to You and to us. Lord, we understand the fruitless will dropout. They’ll refuse to stay in relationship with us, but we trust Your Lordship. We pray You’ll connect fruitful people to us for the sake of Your kingdom.  Send disciples who will connect relationally. Remove the chaff from among us and bring true disciples in Jesus name, amen.

They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
