When I was in high school, I played sports year round. If I learned anything playing high school sports its that the fundamental skill sets must be mastered and that any lasting skill development must be built upon the foundation of the original   fundamental skill set. The same is true in the fleshing out of our Christian faith. We never leave the fundamental disciplines. The prayer below connects us with the fundamentals of the Christian life. Everything else is built on these fundamentals practices. Read this prayer. Shape it into your own words. Like it. Share it on all your social media platforms.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, instill simple devotion within me. This life with You is about believing on Jesus, loving our brothers and sisters in the church and keeping Your commands.  Teach me to keep the main things at the top of my priority list. Holy Spirit, as I prioritize and practice the fundamentals of true devotion, make me fully aware of the presence of Jesus burning in my heart. Saturate me with Your anointing and power in the name of Jesus, the anointed One!

1 John 3:23-24

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
